About Madani
The Madani International Film Festival aims to describe the lives of Muslims in various parts of the world, whether as the majority or the minority. Therefore, the public in Indonesia shall better understand the diversity of lives, dreams, and hopes of other Muslim communities, which will foster a sense of solidarity within the existing diversity.
The Term Madani
Madani is an Indonesian word that has three meanings:
- Relating to civil rights;
- Associated with city;
- Enforcing norms and laws with the support of mastery of religion, science, and civilized technology.
The madani society is a translation of "civil society" into Indonesian, except that for Muslims, the madani society is also the ideal Muslim community and role model established by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the city of Medina.
A Festival for Everyone
The film is a cultural expression that can become a medium for mutual understanding beyond political, economic, and even religious differences. This festival is presented in an inclusive atmosphere. Programming that focuses on human values ensures that this festival can reach everyone. The festival will celebrate Islam as a source of life guidance and cultural expression.
